Christine O'Donnell, the would-be Tea Party Republican prospect for Senate in Delaware, has been a lightning rod for various controversies. Lying about her education was one thing. Then info trickled out that the born-again Protestant foisted the stink eye toward the topic of masturbation. Of late, O'Donnell's past has surfaced once more, including newer, stranger flavors to her political pie. On the Bill Maher TV program "Politically Incorrect" in 1999, Christine O'Donnell spoke of witchcraft. "I dabbled in witchcraft" were her specific words.

O'Donnell's witchcraft confession – a Wiccan shout-out?

Christine O'Donnell may not know witchcraft, according to the Wiccan information available at the Australian site Witchcraft.com. Elaborating in the video clip below, she claims she went on a date where there was a "Satanic altar" present. Witchcraft.com defines Wicca in terms that would seem to contradict O'Donnell's Satanic flashes. It celebrates nature and its cycles while abandoning the silly pretenses society prescribes on the faith via superstition. As nature takes no sides, Wicca is also neutral. O'Donnell's wide-eyed exclamation merely adds fuel to the comedic fire burning under her farcical candidacy in Delaware, and also the GOP would like all the baggage to disappear.

O'Donnell says the witchcraft was merely a chapter in her young life. She isn't really a practicing Wiccan or anything else other than a Protestant, which is a good thing thinking about her jealous God doesn't suffer the competition. But the current series of bizarre events in Christine O'Donnell's political life have spurred Republican strategist extraordinaire Karl Rove to action. He has jumped on the "she can't win" bandwagon. Republican Rep. Mike Pence of Indiana has called for O'Donnell to publicly explain her 1999 comments. While Delaware voters are the ones who'll ultimately choose whether O'Donnell is fit to serve the state within the Senate, Rove is seriously concerned about her "background, character, statements and previous actions," as he just lately told "Fox News Sunday".

The witchcraft of disappearing funds

As if Christine O'Donnell and witchcraft weren't enough, now Raw Story reports that the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington has filed a complaint against O'Donnell. The allegation is that she used $ 20,000 in campaign funds for personal expenses. Christine O'Donnell would certainly not be unique if this allegation is proven to be true. However, such actions are never acceptable. The Tea Party spectacle claims she's all about fiscal responsibility in government too, which could come back to bite her.
